Accessibility Statement

We aim for etiasapply.eu.com to be usable by everyone, regardless of ability or device. This statement describes what we target, where we fall short, and how to report a problem.

§ 01Standard we target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. In the European Union, this aligns with the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and national transpositions.

§ 02Built-in features

  • Semantic structure: pages use proper headings, landmarks, and lists so screen readers can navigate efficiently.
  • Keyboard support: all interactive elements are reachable and operable with a keyboard; focus is visible.
  • Contrast: body text and interactive controls meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios.
  • Responsive: pages reflow on small screens without horizontal scrolling at 320px wide.
  • Reduced motion: non-essential animation respects prefers-reduced-motion.
  • Alt text: informative images include text alternatives; decorative images are marked as such.
  • Forms: inputs have labels; errors are announced programmatically.

§ 03Known limitations

We are not perfect. We are aware of, and actively working on, the following areas:

  • Some interactive calculator visualizations rely on color to distinguish states; we are adding text-equivalent labels.
  • Older PDF documents linked from the Site may not be fully tagged; please contact us if you need an accessible version.
  • Some third-party embeds may not meet our accessibility target; we work with providers where we can replace them.

§ 04Tested assistive technology

We test with current versions of NVDA, VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android), and the JAWS screen reader, in combination with the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. If a specific combination fails for you, please report it.

§ 05Feedback and requests

If you encounter a barrier on the Site, or if you need information in an alternative format (plain text, large print, structured document):

§ 06Enforcement procedure

If you contact us about an accessibility issue and are not satisfied with our response, you may be able to escalate to the relevant national enforcement body (for EU residents, through the mechanism set out by the Web Accessibility Directive; for UK residents, through the Equality and Human Rights Commission; for US residents, through the relevant federal or state agency).
